Junior Race Opportunities

Why compete? Like so many other things, like school tests or music performances, competition in ski racing is a chance to apply the abilities we’ve been working on in practice. It’s a chance to learn to prepare for a single performance, bringing focus, mental skills and more to the table for a single attempt. It’s also a fun time that can be shared with friends, teammates, and family surrounding the event.

Over a skiers time in the sport we encourage them to follow a gradual progression with their involvement.  We share our thoughts on a healthy progression in the details page linked below.  

A seasonal race schedule should incorporate balance between both practice, racing, and recovery.  Practice provides the greatest outlet for improvement.  Racing provides an opportunity for applying ski skills, fitness, racing strategies and tactics.  Recovery is essential for the body (and mind) to adapt and become stronger. Click the button below to see our race # recommendations which provide some general guidance.  More is not necessarily better here!  In general, the progression can be seen as start local, then explore races within Washington (or the BC Track Attack champs), then try some other races in PNW (including BC), then a little further afield, etc.
