Stay engaged this summer!

Our goal is to create a training environment where a broad range of skiers can thrive. This means providing flexibility and bridge opportunities at transitional ages. For summer training, we begin to employ the following year's age groups, U12: 2014-15, U14: 2012-13, U16 & older: 2011 and before.

We’re excited to offer a variety of camps this season, both locally and out of town, for youth athletes to build skills, confidence, and community.

Financial aid is available for programs and camps. Click here to learn more.

CompTeam Spring Power Camp

This is the option for individuals looking to continue with strength training (aka Power Camp) during May and June.  Power Camp is held on Tuesday and Friday mornings before school from 6:45-8 AM.  Transportation to school after training is available in the team van. Participants are encouraged to take rest breaks up to two weeks as needed for recovery.

The spring session runs from May 6 to June 13, and the cost factors in the assumption that most athletes will be taking a 2-week break from training for their annual 'structured training break' during this period.

 FAQs

  • The Comp Team program is aimed at skiers U16 and older or roughly the high school years, although this may be an appropriate choice for some middle schoolers.  The Development Team program is centered around the middle school years or U12-14 skiers although this may be the right choice for some U16s or those entering 9th grade. The objective with our training groups is to provide each skier with a situation where they are thriving and getting the right level of support and challenge at any given time in their development.  This means providing flexibility and bridge opportunities at transitional ages. If you’re still unsure, please email us at info@mvnsef.org.

  • Rollerskis are utilized by the Comp Team in general and at training camps for the Development Team. Winthrop Mountain Sports has great deals available on rollerskis and the program has several pairs available to rent.  Email info@mvnsef.org if you think you might want to rent a pair as supplies are limited.

Additional summer training equipment (for Comp Team and Prep Team camps) includes running shoes, a hydration belt (preferably one that doesn't bounce too much when running!), bounding poles (ski poles up to the chest or armpit with a good strap and tip), rollerski poles (with special tips for asphalt), bright clothing and a bike helmet (for rollerskiing).

  • Yes! We recognize it's an investment to participate and we provide financial aid to those in need. See our financial aid page for more details, and email info@mvnsef.org with any questions.

  • For Spring Power Camp, we can offer transportation for team members from Winthrop PT to school.

For Summer programs, we can generally offer transportation to and from the MVNSEF office for training.
