Stay engaged this summer!

Our goal is to create a training environment where a broad range of skiers can thrive. This means providing flexibility and bridge opportunities at transitional ages.

Summer Development Training

This training is intended for Prep Team Skiers this coming winter (those in grades 6-8 in Fall 2026, and those in grades in 9-12 who are looking for a less-involved option than the Comp Team). Workouts will be a mix of on foot activities and skate rollerskiing (rollerskis available to rent) with the potential for hikes or bikes on Fridays if there is sufficient interest.

Summer sessions will be Monday and Thursday mornings, generally starting around 8 or 8:30 and held adjacent to Comp Team training as in the winter.  We may also incorporate some Friday outings (hikes or bike rides?) if there is interest.  Here is a link to the summer schedule, including age appropriate summer camp offerings.

Comp Team Summer Training

Comp Team Summer Training will take place on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday mornings this summer.  Summer tuition also covers coaching costs for summer camps that we attend as a team (this summer, Plain June 23-27, Trout Lake July 14-18, and Whistler August 8-13).  A graded-registration option is available; see below for more details.

Training includes a mix of activities including running, rollerskiing (rentals available for $50/pair/season - please inquire if interested), ski bounding, and strength training.  Tuesdays and Thursday start with Power Camp (strength training) at Winthrop PT at 6:45 AM and end around 10-11 AM after an endurance workout following strength (exact timing depends on activity location and will be communicated each week).  Mondays and Fridays often start around 8 AM, but we do sometimes shift earlier to beat the heat.

Comp Team is targeted at skiers in high school (grades 9-12) in the coming ski season.  For those gone for significant portions of the summer, a graded registration worksheet is available with a minimum cost of $330 for 50% attendance.  Skiers who are interested in the Comp program but uncertain if they are ready are encouraged to reach out to pete@mvnsef.org - we have had good success with creating a bridge program for skiers to phase into the group's training over the course of weeks or months.

  • MVNSEF Whistler Camp

    Dates: August 10-15, 2026

    Cost: $775

This summer, the MVNT training camp will return to the mountains of Whistler, BC Aug 10-15 for the third year in a row.

A typical day kicks-off with pre-breakfast movement training, before a meal in the dining hall, and a departure to the rollerski track at Whistler Olympic Park.  The track covers 4km of the more moderate trails on the Olympic course, mimicking ski terrain as well as one can on rollerskis.  After the morning session, the group returns for lunch in the dining hall, an afternoon break and hits the trails for a foot-based session on one of Whistler's numerous trail networks, or opts for strength and games at the local park.  One day features a full-day outing into the surrounding mountains.

The camp is based out of the Whistler Athletes' Centre where athletes live in dorm style housing with one or two roommates - all with their own bed.  Three meals a day are provided by the dining hall, and snacks are available as well, although it's a good idea to bring a payment method for incidental snacks at the corner store or a trip to Whistler village, or the traditional post-camp ice cream at Alice and Brohm in Squamish on the drive home.

This camp is targeted at U16 and older skiers and open to skiers on MVNT as well as other clubs.  Participants should be experienced rollerskiers and have completed a summer of training prior to the camp.   Coaches from other clubs interested in helping at the camp should contact pete@mvnsef.org.

Financial Aid is available for MVNT athletes.

Registration deadline is July 5.  Registrations received after July 5 will incur a $75 late fee, and are subject to room availability.

 FAQs

  • The Comp Team program is aimed at skiers U16 and older or roughly the high school years, although this may be an appropriate choice for some middle schoolers.  The Development Team program is centered around the middle school years or U12-14 skiers although this may be the right choice for some U16s or those entering 9th grade. The objective with our training groups is to provide each skier with a situation where they are thriving and getting the right level of support and challenge at any given time in their development.  This means providing flexibility and bridge opportunities at transitional ages. If you’re still unsure, please email us at info@mvnsef.org.

  • Rollerskis are utilized by the Comp Team in general and at training camps for the Development Team. Winthrop Mountain Sports has great deals available on rollerskis and the program has several pairs available to rent.  Email info@mvnsef.org if you think you might want to rent a pair as supplies are limited.

Additional summer training equipment (for Comp Team and Prep Team camps) includes running shoes, a hydration belt (preferably one that doesn't bounce too much when running!), bounding poles (ski poles up to the chest or armpit with a good strap and tip), rollerski poles (with special tips for asphalt), bright clothing and a bike helmet (for rollerskiing).

  • Yes! We recognize it's an investment to participate and we provide financial aid to those in need. See our financial aid page for more details, and email info@mvnsef.org with any questions.

  • For Spring Power Camp, we can offer transportation for team members from Winthrop PT to school.

For Summer programs, we can generally offer transportation to and from the MVNSEF office for training.
