Board Members Elect
Walt Burt grew up in central Washington and spent a few decades as a consulting hydrogeologist in the Pacific Northwest. His relationship with the Valley began with a bike tour in the early 1980s and evolved through professional work and numerous climbing trips in the North Cascades. Since moving to the Valley full-time several years ago, Walt, his wife Claire, and his daughter Alida have seen first-hand how the experiences that MVNSEF staff and volunteers affords the kids (and parents) can foster physical and emotional growth, as well as contribute to the development of a supportive community.
Walt hopes to contribute to the ongoing efforts of MVNSEF to ensure the organization is sustainable and resilient while remaining true to its mission. One area of particular interest to Walt is building capacity among the volunteer community to ensure succession and continuity with the opportunities that MVNSEF provides.
Robert Ingman is a dual US/EU citizen and also a dual Seattle/Mazama citizen for the past 20+ years. His Scandinavian upbringing fostered a love for four distinct seasons early in life, and he continues to focus on recreational outdoor activities year-around in the Methow Valley with his wife and two now-adult sons. His family especially appreciates the unique and vast opportunities for cross-country skiing that the valley’s excellent trail system offers, and Robert is also a certified biathlete.
He has been very active in his Mazama community HOA for 10+ years, including currently serving as its President, and has in that capacity interacted with many non-profits, government agencies and other entities in the valley and beyond. Professionally, Robert has an engineering and software development background and has decades of experience as a Senior Program Manager and Product Development Leader in Seattle’s hi-tech industry including with Microsoft and several startups and consulting firms. He's looking forward to applying his leadership skills and experience to Methow Valley Nordic Board’s work and help tackle challenges and improve its organizational proficiency.
Heidi Durham is a seasoned cross-sector leader with a passion for outdoor adventure, community engagement, and the power of sport to connect and inspire. She brings decades of experience in brand strategy, business innovation, and nonprofit leadership—including serving as CEO of two national nonprofits. At Starbucks, she currently leads a team focused on digital product innovation.
A lifelong athlete, Heidi fell in love with Nordic skiing in the Methow Valley, where she and her family have been visiting for over 15 years. In 2019, they built a home in Mazama and now split their time between Seattle and the Valley, with plans to move to Mazama full-time when their son heads to college this fall. Heidi is excited to bring her strategic mindset and fundraising experience to the MVN Board to help deepen the organization’s impact, grow the community, and expand access to skiing for all.
